After 9/11, two immigrant teenagers in North Carolina schemes to win a regional videogame tournament, convinced it’s their way to the American Dream.

High schoolers Lin and Walid are aspiring pro-gamers in North Carolina. They hope to become the greatest gamers in the world and be rich and famous. When a real opportunity lands in their lap with an invitation to a regional gaming tournament, they embark on a series of misadventures involving bootleg porn DVDs, high school crushes, semi-automatic weapons, police interrogation, and finding a real friendship.

Frank Sun – Writer / Director

Frank Sun is a filmmaker based in New York City. Born in China and raised in the American South, he grew up navigating the contradictions of culture, assimilation, and identity.

Frank began his career producing stories on CBS’s Survivor, where he learned to shape emotionally driven narratives in unpredictable environments. From there, he transitioned into storytelling through commercial direction, crafting emotional stories with brands like Nike, Peloton, Ralph Lauren, Lexus, etc.

Frank has now shifted his focus to narrative filmmaking. His short film, We are Kings, which he wrote and directed, premiered at the 2025 Tribeca Festival and is being developed into a feature film.

Frank’s second short film, Fabric, a reflection of his years as a photographer of New York Fashion Week, will have its premiere at Tribeca in 2026.

Lou Wang-Holborn – Producer

Lou Wang-Holborn (she/her) is a Beijing-born Brooklyn-based independent producer working in narrative, documentary, commercial and branded content. She was the Associate and Post Producer for the feature film BLUE SUN PALACE, premiering at Semaine de la Critique, Cannes 2024, winning the French Touch Jury Award. Most recently she was the production supervisor on LUCKY LU, premiering at Cannes 2025 Directors’ Fortnight.

Lou’s work has been supported by The Gotham, Center for Asian American Media, BRIC, CNEX, Doc Edge, Kartemquin Films, Hot Docs and the NYC Women’s Fund. Her most recent short film WE ARE KINGS, focused on Asian American experience in America South, premiered at Tribeca Film Festival.

Her previous work has screened at Cannes, Toronto International Film Festival, Austin Film Festival, Cleveland International Film Festival, Busan International Film Festival, New Directors/New Films, and many more.

Alex Constantin – Executive Producer

Alex is an Executive in Streaming and business development. His non-profit has raised funds for numerous short films that’ve gone on to festivals like Tribeca, Austin Film Festival, etc. Alex was prevously an executive at JP Morgan Chase. Now spends his spare time guiding filmmakers in navigating the financial sides of filmmaking.

Scott Aharoni – Executive Producer

Scott Aharoni is a New York-based producer and director whose work has screened at major festivals including Cannes, Venice, Berlinale, TIFF, and Tribeca, with one of his films shortlisted for the 94th Academy Awards for Best Live Action Short.

His recent producing credits include The Testament of Ann Lee starring Amanda Seyfried, The Chronology of Water, Kristen Stewart’s directorial debut, The Carpenter’s Son starring Nicolas Cage and Noah Jupe, The Wrong Girls starring Kristen Stewart, Seth Rogen, and LaKeith Stanfield, and Our Hero, Balthazar, which won the Audience Award at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival.
